Scubadiving Safari Egypt North Tour Ras Mohammed and Wrecks

This tour leads to the famous wrecks in the northern Red Sea and to the southernmost tip of the Sinai Peninsula – Ras Mohammed National Park.

After an introductory dive at the reefs near El Gouna – for example at Shaab el Erg (Dolphinhouse) – we cross the Gulf of Suez and reach Ras Mohammed. This small headland is surrounded by reefs with an incredible variety of underwater life. The dive sites Shark and Yolanda Reef are probably the most famous of them. Two huge coral columns rising to just below the surface, together with a sandy terrace 10-15 meters below, the “saddle”, form the core of the reef. On the outside of these coral blocks, the drop-offs drop to an impressive 800 meters below the surface. Here, huge schools of barracuda, batfish and also deep sea sharks patrol regularly.

The Thistlegorm is probably the most famous wreck in the Red Sea. The English war freighter was on her way to Egypt to supply the English Africa Corps stationed there with supplies when she was attacked by a German bomber on 6.10.1941 and sank. The wreck lies upright on the seabed at a depth of 30 meters. The cargo is particularly interesting: tanks, trucks, weapons, motorcycles, railroad cars as well as a locomotive. Dives at the Thistlegorm are definitely among the highlights in every diver’s logbook!

At the reef Abu Nuhas four wrecks are waiting for our discovery dives: the 150 year old steamship SS Carnatic, the Greek wooden freighter Giannis D, the lenticular freighter Kimon M. and the Chrisoula K., which sank in 1981 and was loaded with ceramic tiles. Great light shows, moray eels, scorpion fish, crocodile fish, … – with a little luck, maybe dolphins will drop by. Let yourself be surprised and enchanted by the unique underwater world!

Other possible dive sites and wrecks on the tour: Dunraven, Kingston (Shag Rock), Jackfish Alley, Siyul Island, …
